Mansbond Oil Bonded Sand

Mansbond sand has a special Organo clay and oil binder instead of bentonite clay and water as used in traditional Foundry green sand. No steam is generated when the metal is poured. This means that there is a reduced need for venting of the mould and the sand doesn’t need to be as permeable. A finer mesh of sand is used which results in a finer finish on the cast part. This also means that the sand does not dry out by evaporation.
