Petrobond SD Oil Sand
Petrobond sand has a special oil binder instead of bentonite clay and water as used in traditional greensand. No steam is generated when the metal is poured. This means that there is a reduced need for venting of the mold and the sand doesn’t need to be as permeable. Therefore a finer mesh of sand is used which results in a finer finish on the cast part. This also means that the sand does not dry out by evaporation.
Petrobond has a higher green strength than Mansbond and is widely used in the foundry industry.
Ideal for more complex shapes and lettering also good with some finer detail
